Portfolio losses: when should the legal issues be reviewed?

Distinguish investment risk from misleading representations or disputed transactions, and prepare the relevant records.

The short answer

The size of a loss does not by itself establish wrongdoing. Review the information supplied, who placed the orders and whether the trades matched what was authorised. Verify suspected impersonation through official channels.

Start with the agreement, not just the price chart

Identify the product, operator, representations and your understanding of risk. Distinguish an alleged guaranteed return from an explanation of market information or potential performance.

Reconcile the account and orders

Match portfolio reports with confirmations, cash movements and order history. List unexplained transactions with dates rather than relying on one screenshot of the account total.

Verify the actual operator

The Thai SEC offers operator-verification and scam-warning resources. Access official channels independently. A chat containing a genuine company link does not establish the sender’s connection with it.

A useful review file

Preserve the information available at the time of the decision. Later disclosures do not establish what you knew on the trade date. Separate disclosure, instruction and discovery dates.

  • Account and service agreements
  • Solicitation, offering and risk documents
  • Orders, confirmations and settlements
  • Complaints and operator responses

What the review addresses

Legal review helps organise the facts and possible routes. It does not recommend buying, holding or selling securities or guarantee recovery of losses.

Common questions

Does a large loss mean all of it is recoverable?

No conclusion follows without examining the legal basis and cause of loss.

Is a portfolio screenshot enough?

Also provide transaction history and pre-decision information.

Do you recommend stocks?

That is not a service offered by this website.
